The "Retail Project" is located in the city of Sun Prairie, Wis., a suburb located on the eastern edge of the Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area.

 

 

Approximately 15,000 new homes will be built with 12 miles of the "Project" with the next 3 year.  This includes Sun Prairie, the fastest growing city (over 10,000 people) in the state of Wisconsin with a population of over 25,000 people.

 

 

400-500 annual housing starts are projected for the city of Sun Prairie. This does not take into account the city of Madison, or the other 7 communities within a 15 mile radius.

The American Center, an 840 acre business park with over 50 businesses, is located 1.5 miles from the “Project”.  With more than 6,500 employees, the American Center is projected to employ more than 15,000 people within the next four years.  The American Center is the largest employment base in Dane County.
   
The University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics purchased 16.54 acres in the American Center in 2005 and plans to purchase an additional 25.46 acres in the coming years to build a full service hospital.  It is rumored that this facility will employee up to 10,000 people.

The project is strategically located to air and transport infrastructure, being within 2 miles of Interstates 90-94 & 39; within 3.5 miles of Dane County Regional Airport; and on Hwy 151 (to be given Interstate status) with a 2002 traffic count of 47,900 vehicles per day.
 

 

The Madison Area Technical College has an attendance of 29,000 students and is located within 4 miles of the project.
   
Approximately on third of the greater Madison workforce - more than 73,000 people- are employed in local, state or federal government jobs.
   
The existing residential population is characterized by high-value homes. Median home prices in Dane County have increased 38 from 2000 to 2005, from $148,400 to $204,200.
   
The cities of Madison and Sun Prairie are located in Dane County.
   
The Sun Prairie School District serves more than 5,600 students in grades K-12. The district has frown at an average rate of 3 annually, which is higher than Dane County, and significantly higher than the State of Wisconsin.
